Sharing CloudWatch Dashboards

CloudWatch allows you to share dashboards with people who do not have direct access to your AWS account. This enables you to share your dashboards across teams, with stakeholders, and with people external to your organization. You can even display dashboards on big screens in team areas, or embed them into Wikis and other webpages.

When sharing a dashboard, there are three options for you to designate who is allowed to view the dashboard:

  • Share a single dashboard publicly by allowing anyone with access to the link to view the dashboard.
  • Share a single dashboard privately by designating the specific email addresses of the people who are allowed to view the dashboard. (Each of these users will create their own password that they must enter to view the dashboard.)
  • Share all of the CloudWatch dashboards in your account by specifying a third-party single sign-on (SSO) provider for dashboard access. (All users who are members of this SSO provider’s list can access all the dashboards in the account. To enable this, you integrate the SSO provider with Amazon Cognito. The SSO provider must support Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML). For more information about Amazon Cognito, see What is Amazon Cognito?)

Publicly accessible dashboard

By making your dashboard public, anyone can access your dashboard.

Sharing a dashboard publicly makes it accessible to anyone who has the link (without requiring authentication). We do not recommend this option for dashboards that contain sensitive information.

  1. In the AWS Management Console on the Services menu, click CloudWatch.
  2. In the left navigation menu under Dashboards, select observability-dashboard.
  3. Select Share dashboard from the Actions drop down menu.

You can also choose to share logs. Please be careful when sharing sensitive information.
